Ferne Forman Fisher Lecture

History

Ferne Forman Fisher, a native of Kansas City, Kansas, was a psychology student at the University of Kansas whose family later established a lecture fund in her name. The fund is dedicated to inviting distinguished speakers who have made significant contributions to the understanding of adult psychological development, particularly among elderly and disadvantaged populations.

Fisher studied child psychology at KU and earned her bachelor’s degree in 1937. Her special interests included gender roles, life-cycle development, and family systems dynamics. The inaugural lecture was held in October 1987. Mrs. Fisher died in 1980.
