Biography —
Dr. Calkins-Smith is a faculty member, clinical supervisor, and administrator. She supervises students within the KU Psychological Clinic (KUPC), teaches graduate courses, and provides professional development mentorship to students. Dr. Calkins-Smith also assists with the management of the day-to-day operations of the KUPC.
Clinical Interests
Dr. Calkins-Smith has received specialized training in health psychology with an emphasis in pediatric psychology. She has worked with children, adolescents, and young adults to address concerns related to pain management, somatization disorders, and other chronic health conditions (e.g., diabetes). Dr. Calkins-Smith has previously worked within several treatment settings, including hospitals, primary care, and private practice.
Dr. Calkins-Smith has a strong background in psychological and psychoeducational assessments, with her primary assessment interests being ADHD and learning evaluations. She also has experience in providing evidence-based therapy to children, adolescents, and young adults for a variety of emotional and behavioral disorders.

While my primary role is in clinical training for doctoral students in the clinical program, my research areas of interest include adherence to treatment recommendations, evidence-based treatment outcomes, and functional improvement in therapeutic interventions.
